Недавно смотрели одну из серий мультфильма "Клуб Миккимауса" (Mickey Mouse Club House), идёт в субботу по утрам на первом канале, дочке очень нравиться (в принципе мы их по выходным всегда смотрим), серия была посвящена цветам, они их сначала лишились, а затем, решая свои загадки восстанавливали. Так вот на что с женой обратили внимание, цветов в их радуге оказалось шесть! Стало интересно, это ошибка, или у них (в америке) считают 6 цветов у радуги. Сначала спросил у англичанина (вернее он шотландец, если это принципиально :), который работает у нас в конторе, он посчитал на пальцах - у него получилось семь цветов. Тогда полез на википедию...

All the Roy G. Biv mnemonics follow the tradition of including the colour indigo between blue and violet. Newton originally (1672) named only five primary colours: red, yellow, green, blue and violet. Only later did he introduce orange and indigo, giving seven colours by analogy to the number of notes in a musical scale.[8] Some sources now omit indigo, partly due to the poor ability of humans to distinguish colours in the blue portion of the visual spectrum.[9] There is also some evidence that Newton's use of the terms blue and indigo map to the modern hues turquoise and blue respectively.
